I’m headed south to Playa Del Carmen for Stephanie and Rod’s awesome wedding!  If you need to get in touch with me, I will have my phone and my laptop to check email (though I’m not sure either will work).  I will be sure to return any emails or phone calls when I get back on Saturday the 11th.  Have a great mothers day!!!

Bekah and Josh’s Maternity Session

Filed under: Portraiture — Alison Willliams @ 8:56 pm

A few months ago, Bekah and Josh met up with me at Picnic Rock in the Poudre Canyon.  We had a really fun shoot playing in the water, etc.  When she got the photos, she surprised me and said, “I bet you didn’t realize these were maternity photos.”  I was so excited for them!  Since then, we planned a real maternity session (and soon a newborn session).  It was finally time for the baby bump to make it’s debut a few weeks ago.  Here’s some shots from our day…
Bekah is such a beautiful pregnant lady (it doesn’t hurt that she’s all baby!)…

San Francisco!

Filed under: Blogroll, What's new — Alison Willliams @ 11:45 pm

I just got back from San Francisco to photograph Danna and Bill’s wedding on the San Francisco Bay.  It worked out great for us because my whole family got to go and we stayed with my sister-in-law and her boyfriend Mike.  I’m still working on the edits from the wedding, but here are some highlights from the city and surrounding areas…

The flowers at Half Moon Bay were gorgeous!

The scenery was to die for at Half Moon Bay.  It was like walking into a dream.

There were cool puddles (I’m sure there’s a more technical term for them) in all the rocks along the shore…

And when I looked closer I saw that the rocks were completely covered by muscles.  It was really cool…

This was what I saw when we first walked down to Half Moon Bay.  Absolutely gorgeous!

My sister-in-laws’ boyfriend, Mike, gave us a great tour of the city.  I got a lot of drive-by shots of cool buildings.  I just thought this was hilarious!

I can’t remember the name of this street, but it’s the “curviest” in the country!

Kintla

Filed under: Portraiture, What's new — Alison Willliams @ 9:01 pm

13 months ago, my good friend Kim told me that their husky Kintla has cancer.  Since then he has had countless visits to the vet and received many chemo treatments.  I am happy to say that he was in remission for 13 months!  A few weeks ago it came back.  He is on steroids and chemo again, so we’re hopeful that it will work this time too.

Since he was diagnosed, we have been planning a little photo session for him.  We finally got to do it a couple of weeks ago at Lee Martinez park in Fort Collins.  Here are some of my favorite shots…

He’s so handsome, isn’t he?

Here he is with Logan (my daughter Maya’s best friend!)…

This one cracks me up because it is a classic moment of how Jack always messes with Kintla (notice the paw on his head)…

The real Joel Comm

Filed under: Portraiture, What's new — Alison Willliams @ 8:19 pm

I have really neglected my blog lately (sorry).  It just turns out that I have some news!  Kirk and I are moving to Broomfield (basically Denver)!  He got a new job down there a few months ago, so we are in the process of trying to sell our house (in a bad market) and buy a new one.  So, hopefully I am forgiven for my neglect.

I am so excited to finally post this session!  If you remember last August I did a shoot for The Next Internet Millionaire with Joel Comm (the host) for Revenue Magazine.  Joel and I had a great connection because he was so silly and open in front of the camera.  Well, he recently called me up to come shoot his whole team at Info Media in Loveland.  I was so excited because any photographer would be honored to get that job (and he’s had many photographers photograph him).  He even graced me with a really nice post on his blog!  Here’s the link if you’d like to see it… The Photo Shoot  He was even more silly than I remembered when I got to his office.  As soon as I walked in I was nearly beaned by a flying squeeking monkey (seriously)!  I knew I was in for some fun.   You could tell the whole team thrives on his great energy and enthusiasm.  I imagine it’s a great place to work.  Anyway, on to the photos…

We got to take a few shots of Joel with his wife and they are still ridiculously in love after 19 years of marriage!

Tarah and David’s Wedding

Filed under: Weddings — Alison Willliams @ 5:08 pm

What a fabulous couple!!!  I had the pleasure of photographing Tarah and David’s wedding in Breckenridge on February 9th.  It was so cool for me because David and his family are actually from Scotland, so I was surrounded by kilts and awesome accents.  I even attempted my try at fitting in with my Scottish accent (probably more annoying than believable).  I LOVED the entire group!  What a fabulous day!  Here are some of my favorite shots…

Project Smile

Filed under: Events — Alison Willliams @ 11:57 pm

I think it’s important that when you are lucky enough to do what you love for a living, to share the wealth and volunteer when able.  I recently had the opportunity to volunteer for a great organization called Project Smile.  They organized a “Night at the Oscars” and I got to be a member of the paparazzi!  It was a blast!  If you would like to donate time or money to this organization, click here.  Here are some of my favorite paparazzi shots…

Alison and David’s Engagement

Filed under: Engagements — Alison Willliams @ 12:51 am

This Sunday I met up with Alison and David for their engagement session in Old Town Fort Collins.  It was really fun for me because it was my first all night shoot.  I got to play around with the light we could find and flash.  I got to experiment with a lot of techniques I’ve been excited about.  Alison and David were so patient with my set ups (it took a while each time we moved)!  Anyway, on to the photos!

The X-Games with Sack Up Sports!

Filed under: Events — Alison Willliams @ 8:20 pm

I had the most fun last week shooting the X-Games!  It felt completely surreal to be up close and personal with all of the super star athletes.  I almost felt like I was breaking the law!  Very cool.  I got this awesome opportunity because one of my grooms, Lucas, from last winter (the wedding that was featured in Rocky Mountain Bride Magazine) is starting a new company called Sack Up Sports.  It is basically a forum focussing on outdoor extreme sports and creates a network for people that want to get to know others with similar interests.  It incorporates music (you get to add your favorite music to your profile), video, and photos.  He is also incorporating a really cool new idea.  He is traveling all over and using a helmet cam to video tape trail maps all of the world!  This way you can actually see what the trails look like.  It is such an ingenious idea!  If you want to check it out or become a member, go here… Sack Up Sports.

I had a great time getting to know the two other guys that joined the team,  Joel and Drew, too!  Here are some of my favorite shots I got from the trip…

I love this shot of the church near the games…

Get Real Workshop!

Filed under: Weddings, What's new — Alison Willliams @ 4:12 pm

I’m finally back!  After a life-changing 2 weeks I’m home for some R&R.  I am so grateful for the amazing experience of working with Huy Nguyen (2005’s wedding photojournalist of the year)!  We had a 3 day workshop in Dallas (6 of us including Huy) where we learned about his process and got critiques, shot a wedding with him (with an AWESOME couple!), and learned his post-processing.   I am so anxious to use what I learned!  Here are some of the shots I got at the wedding…

The highlight of the day for me was when a bridesmaid pointed out a trampoline in the back.  I said “let’s go for it!” so we took some really fun shots in the isle…

I was stuck in pretty much the same spot during the ceremony (it’s best to have an assigned seat when there are 6 photographers), so I got creative and shot some silouettes of the signer…

I was laying on the floor MOST of the time.  I thought this shot commemorated that to me the most.  It was such a cool moment too!
