What have I been up to (other than expanding my beautiful family)?

Hello from the depths of motherhood!!!!!  I am finally beginning to resurface and join the ranks of the living/working!!!!  Though I have been technically on maternity leave, I have been busy!!!  I am forever grateful to have a job I actually look forward to even after a sleepless night (still happening, by the way).  That being said, I would love to share a few of the images I have taken over the last year that I have procrastinated on posting…

The Village at Edgewater

The Village at Edgewater

The Village at Edgewater (1/2 a block from my house) will be officially open in October and I can’t wait!!!!  Maya’s preschool has been invited a few times to warm it up and play and I was lucky enough to get a few shots.  Here are some of my favorites… Village

High School Pep Ralley Photography / South High School

So, one of my dreams is to teach photography to kids and adults because I LOVE the whole creative process!  The past couple of years, I have visited South High School’s yearbook staff to discuss shooting photojournalism photographs for their annual book.  This year we took it a bit further and I actually joined them for their homecoming pep ralley to show them how I work.  It was SO AWESOME!!!!!!!  I wish this was a place more photographers were hired for!  It was amazing to see how the kids slowly got up more courage to get into their subjects faces, and move around to get the best shots.  My job is truly rewarding.  Anyway, because I was there, I of course took photos myself.  Here are some of mine… South

Troncones, Mexico Event Photography / The Present Moment Yoga

It’s hard to express the magic that happens at The Present Moment Retreat in Troncones, Mexico.  Not to sound cheesy, but I literally cried when I had to leave.  The present Moment has the most perfect set-up to achieve relaxation, peace, and harmony.  From the quaint, stylish bungalows set around the glistening pool, to the yoga stage at the oceans shore and AMAZING food and employees,  I will forever hold this place in my heart.

I know that was a bit of a tangent, but I have been holding these thoughts in my head for a while and really wanted to share them now.

Anyway, back to photos!!!!  The day after Tom and Angelica’s wedding, The Present Moment had a 9am yoga class featuring the musicians from the night before (and all of the other elements that make this place special-doggies, Abril-the adorable daughter of the GM Jessica, incredible yoga instruction, humor, heat, waves, ocean, beach, and mountains).  Here are some of my shots I took during the class… Yoga

Thank you SO much to The Present Moment!  I plan on being back again really soon!!!!!

Jill and Jay’s 1920′s Cancer League Event

A few months ago, Jill and Jay hosted a wonderful event for the Cancer League of Colorado.  The theme was 1920′s so we all got to get dolled up in costumes and jumped into the past as we walked through the doors of Mile High Station in Denver.  There were SO MANY generous people that made the event possible.  If you’d like to see the vendors involved, here are the details from Jill and Jay… Thank you letter.  Here are some fun shots from the night… 1920′s night

Homes for our Troops

A few months ago, I was asked to photograph a project for an awesome organization called Homes For Our Troops.  They are a lot like Habitat for Humanity in that they build homes, but the needy they focus on are disabled veterans.  I am so thrilled to be a part of Sgt. John Jones’ project!  He was blown 20 feet from his Hummer in Iraq and both of his legs were lost (he now has 2 artificial limbs).  HFOT is building a home for him where it will be easier for him to walk from one room to the next without having to worry about falling down stairs, etc.

The welcome dinner was full of emotion.  Sgt. Jones and his wife and new son couldn’t be more grateful.  Betsy Markley even made an appearance.  Here are some shots from the night… HFOT

1920′s Cotton Club for Cancer Research Fundraiser

Photo from Jill and Jay's wedding last year

This Friday I will be a part of a very special event to raise money for cancer research and Jill and Jay Livingston (one of my wonderful couples from last winter).  Jay was diagnosed a few months ago with testicular cancer and has been through many treatments as well as surgeries ever since.  I am happy to say that I saw him a couple of days ago and he looks fantastic and he says he is feeling great!  The downfall to all of this is, of course, the $$$ it has cost them.  I am honored to be able to donate some of my nature photography and photograph the event to help them out.  If you would like to come, here is the invitation… 1920′s Cotton Club (the VIP ticket deadline has been extended until February 25th, but general admission tickets can be purchased at the door).  “The more, the merrier” as Jay says!
